Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering 2023, Volume 10, Issue 4,   Pages 566-578 doi: 10.15302/J-FASE-2023520

Abstract:

Elucidating the spatiotemporal pattern of water quality and algal biomass is crucial for accuratelyThis study analyzed the spatiotemporal variability of water quality and algal biomass in Erhai Lake from1994 to 2021 using water quality index (WQI), Mann-Kendall test and Sen’s slope combined methodsThe potential causes of water quality deterioration and algal biomass dynamics were also elucidated. The changes in water quality and algal biomass were primarily affected by total nitrogen, total phosphorus

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2014, Volume 8, Issue 6,   Pages 895-904 doi: 10.1007/s11783-014-0736-z

Abstract: This study evaluated the temporal and spatial variations of water quality data sets for the Xin'anjiangThe water samples, measured by ten parameters, were collected every month for three years (2008–2010)electricity conductivity, total nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand and total phosphorus) for spatial variationThe non–parametric correlation coefficient (Spearman R) explained the relationship between the waterquality parameters and the basin characteristics, and the GIS made the results visual and direct.

Modeling effects of a tidal barrage on water quality indicator distribution in the Severn Estuary

Guanghai GAO, Roger A. FALCONER, Binliang LIN

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2013, Volume 7, Issue 2,   Pages 211-218 doi: 10.1007/s11783-012-0464-1

Abstract: In this study, emphasis has focused on assessing the potential hydro-environmental impacts of a barrage across the Severn Estuary, with a numerical model being developed and applied to the estuary to assess the impacts of proposed Severn Barrage on the hydrodynamic, sediment transport and faecal indicator organism distribution within the estuary. The results show that the Severn Barrage has the potential to reduce the tidal currents in a highly dynamic estuary. This leads to the reduction of suspended sediment concentrations, which in turn affects the bacterial transport processes which is highly related to the sediment transport processes.
